I’m insane

Einstein described insanity as:

“doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Words to live by. And confirmation that I truly am insane.

Well, Tigger, that explains it!

My 12-year old son told me recently that he believes that mental illness is everywhere. He cited the characters from Winnie the Pooh, claiming each main character suffers from at least one personality disorder. He gave me the lowdown:

Winnie the Pooh: eating disorder
Piglet: anxiety
Tigger: ADHD
Eeyore: depression
Rabbit: OCD

And what about Christopher Robin? Well, apparently he suffers from delusions. After all, he believes his stuffed animals are carrying on conversations with themselves and with him.

My boy is not taking credit for this evaluation, as he thinks he heard it somewhere. But it’s a very clever synopsis. And it’s nice to know that, even in the world of fictional children’s literature, we are not alone.

Just like Mom!

My 10-year old daughter and I have been prescribed the same medication by our respective doctors. Different doses, of course, but the same drug. She thinks it’s cool, because it has to be taken with food and we’ve instituted a new bedtime snack/pill popping routine. We can remind each other when to take it, and we are even experiencing some of the same initial side effects together. How fun! Kind of like back in the ’80s when moms and daughters wore matching Laura Ashley outfits!

Yeah, not really……
